We enjoy the unique flora and hope to spot wildlife. We reach Machame Camp (3032m) at the upper limit of the forest, where our tents are ready, and dinner is prepared.

Day 2 : Machame Camp to Shira camp

We leave the forest behind, entering the heath and moorland zone. We catch glimpses of Kibo, Kilimanjaro's snowy summit. The pace slows down to acclimatize to the altitude. We reach Shira Cave Campsite (New Shira Campsite (5.3km, Altitude Gain: 818m) with views of Kibo and Johnsell Point. Tents are set up, and meals are provided.

After resting, we descend to Barafu Camp for breakfast. Then, we continue down via the Mweka Trail, passing Millennium Camp and reaching Mweka Camp (3106m) in the forest. (4.86km to Uhuru Peak, 11.5km descent).
